Sewing machine maintenance: a simple guide

1) Cleaning (which solves 80% of the problems)

  • Turn off the machine and unplug it.

  • Remove the bobbin and clean any lint/fluff from the shuttle/feed teeth area.

  • Use a brush (don't "push" lint inside).
Manufacturer support guides reinforce steps such as safely disconnecting and cleaning the coil area.

2) Needle change (more important than it seems)

Exchange if:

  • the needle hit the pin/zip

  • the stitches are starting to fail

  • There are tugs on the fabric.

  • the line breaks down for no reason.

3) Thread and bobbin (compatibility)

  • Avoid using very old and fuzzy yarn (it increases lint).

  • Use the correct coils for the model.

4) Tension and unsightly points: quick checklist

If the stitch comes loose underneath:

  • confirms superior alignment

  • Check if the coil is positioned in the correct direction.

  • Clean the coil area.

If the line breaks:

  • damaged needle

  • very high voltage

  • poor quality line

5) Storage

  • cover/bag

  • dry place

  • away from dust
